Working Sheepdog
I was lucky enough to have been given this little bitch by a very good friend and extremely talented 3 sheep dog man Mr Colin Webster from Raglan NSW. To begin with, Colin let me borrow Twist, so that I could learn how to work sheep with a dog. (something that will take me at least 30 years to master I feel sure!)
I have never found a more enjoyable or challenging dog sport as sheepdog trialling. After entering Twist in the National 3 Sheep Dog Trials in 2006, I won the National Lady's handlers. on the day Twist scored 95 points which gave us the highest in the first round over all triallers. We then followed that up at the State Sheepdog 3 sheep trials where we won the encouragement trial. By this time Twist had firmly become a part of my family and it was at that time that I asked Colin if Twist could live with me forever. Colin had been offered thousands of dollars for Twist by this stage by top sheepdog men who could see the talent my Twistie had, however Colin kindly gave her to me on the condition that he got a pup from her next litter. I cannot thank Colin enough for his generosity. Twist is now a Herding Champion on paper, something that was quite obvious to both Colin and I a long time ago;) Twist has also proved to be an excellent mother. She has had two litters, both to Patons Freckles, and has produced pups that have style and working grace that are, and have proven to be champion material. We will have lots of fun herding and as you can see by the picture, she will also have lots of fun in the comfort of our home being loved and spoilt.
